“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”― Mark Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court

After receiving a blow to the head, 19th century Connecticut resident Hank Morgan awakes to find himself in early medieval England. After more than a few mishaps, Hank finds himself in the legendary court of King Arthur. He realizes that his 19th century knowledge makes him more than a match for the sorcerer Merlin which results in a bitter rivalry between the two. Hank brings modern science and technology to this medieval world and Twain brings his brilliant humor and satire as he compares and contrasts past and present through his vivid commentary. While much has changed since this book was written, there is a timelessness to it as we still grapple with some of the same questions concerning progress.

This book is considered one of the foundational works of science fiction and time travel and it also greatly influenced Monty Python and their movies! If you enjoy satire and history, this is a book you will enjoy.
