“There’s a limit to how bad a school can be if it’s got a library. That’s just a fact.”― Dan Gemeinhart, Coyote Lost and Found
This is the stand alone sequel to Dan Gemeinhart’s earlier novel, The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise. Coyote and her dad, Rodeo, have had nearly a year to settle down and grieve the loss of Coyote’s mom and sisters. When Coyote comes across a box with her mom’s ashes, she thinks she might finally be ready to say goodbye. It’s time for another road trip as Coyote and Rodeo prepare to drive the bus to the location her mom wants her ashes scattered in. The only problem is that her mom never told Rodeo where that location was–she wrote it in a book that Rodeo always kept close by. Coyote has a sinking feeling that she sold the book the year before while driving across the country, so they must re-trace their steps without Rodeo knowing about the missing book. As with their earlier adventure, they meet new friends and re-connect with old ones with the added dimension of traveling during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dan Gemeinhart has another winner with this book and I, for one, am glad he gave us another Coyote Sunrise adventure.
