“Do you forget that I am your sister?”
“No; I’ve never been granted the opportunity to forget it.”
― Georgette Heyer, Frederica

Georgette Heyer is the undisputed queen of Regency Romance novels. She was an incredibly prolific writer and her books really are a delight to read. Frederica is no exception. As with many of Heyer’s other novels, our heroine finds herself in a difficult situation. She is determined to arrange an impressive marriage for her beautiful sister and to do so, she needs the help of their distant cousin, the Marquis of Alverstoke, whom they have never met. Alverstoke generally keeps his distance from his family but Frederica’s frankness, competence, and beauty influence him to lend his assistance. He soon finds himself enmeshed in a series of entertaining antics with his rural cousins and his world is rocked in more ways than one.

Frederica is a light-hearted and fun novel that is quintessential Georgette Heyer. If you need a pick me up, this book will do the trick.
