“Certainly, Aunt. What else is a hopeless spinster to do but kiss a rakehell? With her eyes open, too.””–Sofi Laporte, Lady Ludmilla’s Accidental Letter
Lady Ludmilla Windmere is an established spinster who accidentally struck up a correspondence with “Addy.” After exchanging letters and becoming best friends, Lady Ludmilla is horrified to discover she has fallen in love with her best friend–someone she has never met and has no idea who he is! When she discovers that her charming friend is one of London’s most notorious rakes, she is devastated. So who is Adriain St. Addington really–the charming correspondent or a confirmed rakehell? The only way to solve the mystery is for Lady Ludmilla to once again write a letter.
This is a fun book with witty dialog and some twists and turns. If you are a stickler for all things Regency, this book may not reach that standard as the dialogue feels more modern and it doesn’t follow all the Regency conventions. That being said, if you want a light, charming story, this novel will fit the bill. This is the first of five books in the Merry Spinsters, Charming Rogues series, so if you like this book, there’s more where this came from!
