This is the first of six books in The Ellsworth Assortment series by Christina Dudley and it is delightful. What is an Ellsworth Assortment? That is how the locals refer to the notorious Ellsworth Family because the father has five children with three different wives. His third wife has died and much to his children’s chagrin, he is looking for a fourth wife. Florence, the eldest and a beauty, is mortified that her father is once again looking for a wife. In an effort to find some propriety in her life, she accepts an engagement to rather staid, much older clergyman. Meanwhile her father hires a new attorney, the young and handsome Robert Fairchild and the more time Robert and Florence spend together, the more they are attracted to each other. Florence is determined to find something good about the man she’s agreed to marry and Robert dares not be dishonorable by declaring his interest and possibly loseing Florence’s respect. It’s a conundrum for sure!

This book has witty dialogue, delightful characters, family drama, and some surprises. If you’re looking for a light hearted and entertaining book, you can’t go wrong with Tempted by Folly.
