“All for one and one for all, united we stand divided we fall.”― Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers
This is Alexandre Dumas’ most famous book and should be read by anyone who loves historical adventure novels. This classic tale set in seventeenth century France tells the story of young d’Artagnan’s journey to Paris to join the musketeers, the elite, legendary guard of King Louis XIII. d’Artagnan and his new friends, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis find themselves caught up in all kinds of adventures–political intrigue, duels, love, and the machinations of Cardinal Richelieu as they fight to protect the lives and honor of the king and queen.
I first read The Great Illustrated Classics version of this story as a child and thought it was great fun. I read the full version years later and was still caught up in the adventures of d’Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. If you like rip roaring adventure, this book won’t let you down.
